Introduction By: Raul J. Valdes-Fauli
Fowler Rodriguez Valdes-Fauli has developed with the addition of Rolando Anillo-Badia an in-house group with particular expertise in the Cuban legal context. Our Cuban expertise extends to matters related to the Cuban foreign investment legislation, including among others, maritime law, participation agreements, tourism and other relevant areas. There is a growing interest for U.S. corporations to explore the possibility of doing business in Cuba once it becomes legal to do so, and to be prepared for the transition.
The Cuba Law Update is a publication intended to inform the readers of current important changes and events in Cuba and within the Cuban legal system.
The primary objective of the bulletin is to provide specialized information regarding the status of the legal system in Cuba, Cuban laws, regulations and their application and enforcement, placing these in their political and economic context. Secondarily, to provide current information to U.S. companies and individuals who wish to do business in Cuba in conjunction with the abrogation, lifting or suspension of the Helms-Burton Act and how the U.S. laws and regulations would apply.
Some of the topics that will be covered in our upcoming publications are Cuban Real Estate Laws, Property Registry, Banking Laws, Foreign Trade Laws and Trademark Registration.
